Although this does slice strawberries decently, it has drawbacks that will keep me looking. It is studier than others I've tried, but limited. First of all, there is only room for medium to small berries and many packaged berries are too big without precutting. Also, it doesn't rinse clean easily and requires fussing with a dish brush to get the remnants out of the cutting grid. My third complaint is that since the design requires a fair amount of hand strength, the sliced berries tend to shoot out the front and end up on the counter rather than in the bowl.
Now, all those issues can be gotten around so this is still a useful tool, just not all I'd hoped for. I bought an 'as seen on TV' tool that is ideal except that it is plastic and a bit too flimsy, but it has a generous square grid and works well for mushrooms and eggs as well as strawberries. I definitely want a one-handed unit that can slice whatever directly into the bowl, but haven't found one I really love. The metal version of the 'as seen on TV' one has a round grate that isn't big enough, plus you either get the sliced berry coming out the top and falling, or when held so the slices falls into the bowl you can't see what you're doing. This one is a bit bigger and easier to manage, but still takes some extra attention to achieve consistent results.
Bottom line: It works but I'll keep looking for one that better meets my needs.

I use this for mainly strawberries. Freeze abunch for winter desserts and cereals. Cut prep time by 70%, really. Great for mushrooms too. Well built. Blades won't break or stretch like wire type egg slicers. You will be happy with this item, PROMISE!!!
